| I got this for my four year old grandson. He loves Scooby-Doo so he was thrilled when he opened the gift. On line picture and description is exactly what is delivered. Too soon to say how durable. |

| I bought this set for my daughter last year for Christmas along with the van. She absolutely loved them both and played with them all the time. My son who is 2 1/2 adored the toys as well and they often argued over who was going to play with who. I NEVER noticed a "smell" or "odor" to them as in the previous review. Our set did not really have the paint chipping off problem either. Fred's eye was a little chipped after awhile but aside from that they were fine. I can however say that while they are a blast for my kids to play with they are definately not the most durable of toys.Please keep mind I bought them last year for Christmas and I just recently (within the month of December) threw the whole set of characters out so they lasted less than a year. After several months of being played with the "body parts" started falling off. Scoobys foot was the first to go followed by Shaggy's leg and Velma's arm. They still played with them anyways but they all looked like they were involved in a horrific accident after awhile. They are sold cheaper at Toys R Us (my local store has them for $16.99) but online they have been sold out of them for a couple months.I had tried several places to find the same price online but with no success so went to and had to pay $6-7 more. I got them for my son this Christmas but I don't expect them to have become any more durable than before when I bought them last year. |

My son received the Mystery Inc figures along with the Mystery Machine for his birthday. He's rough on everything. The figures have held up well. They have been used in the bathtub as well as in the Mystery Machine and have no scratches, missing limbs or other disfigurments.
They DID NOT smell bad to me. I think this may depend on the batches that were manufactured.
They are based on the New Scooby Doo characters. So, Daphne does not have her boots and Fred is dressed more modernly. It is true that Velma is lacking undergarments. But then again, it's hard to be ladylike in a plastic skirt.
The feet on these characters are hollow. This helps them stand upward. They do have trouble staying seated properly on the driver's bench of the Mystery Machine. They also have a groove in their hands to allow them to grasp a steering wheel or other object.
I am far more impressed with these figureines than I am with the Mystery Machine itself. I think they are a great value for the money. They allow imaginations to make up story lines. They have been durable so far.
I would recommend these to Scooby Doo fans. The figures are a bit primitive, but the kids seem to enjoy playing with them. |

I bought this set of figures for my 3 children ranging in age from 2-6 in Feb. 2008. We bought them for a family trip, something new to play with on the plane ride. I had read reviews that the figures had a strong odor to them, so I brought along a zip lock bag to store them in just incase they really did smell bad. They do have a pretty strong "plasticy" rubber smell to them. It isn't terrible, but after a while I did feel inclined to put them in the zip lock bag. HOWEVER, my children absolutely love them! When we reached our destination, I let them take the scooby gang swimming in the pool with them and the chlorine did seem to take care of the plastic smell. The gang does have several dings and missing paint marks, but the kids really don't care. I don't see paint peeling off any more, I think it was from scratching them on the bottom of the pool or banging them into each other. My chldren refer to this set of characters as the "pup named scooby" people as they have another set of figures that I purchased from ebay. I recommend these figures! My children have had countless hours of fun and imaginative play with them. They really do all play together- isn't that worth every cent!
FYI-They also love the van too! |
