| bananagrams is kind of a cross between scrabble and a cross word puzzle - each player makes his own board of words simultaneously - so no waiting between turns as in scrabble which eliminates tedium. Its also a quick game - we can play about 20 times in a row with no problem - good for groups - perfect for the weekend cabin activity. |

I have ordered three of these now, for people ages 4, 49 and 84. You can play this by yourself or with up to 4-6 people. Generally, I play with one other person and the 144 tiles provide three games. Enormously entertaining. Goes faster than Scrabble and just as intellectually challenging. I highly recommend it. Unlike Scrabble, there are no points (even on the tiles), the game winner is decided by who uses all their tiles first in a crossword pattern.
The variation I play is to pass out 34 tiles to each of two players. If stumped you can trade in a tile for three more. Once that game is complete, each player draws 34 more from the original group. The more tiles you play in a round, the more interesting it is as you can include some pretty big words (one you would never see in Scrabble). My Mom, who has been a Scrabble and crossword enthusiast for decades, loves this game. My niece like to spell out easy words, but will soon work her way up.
My Mom and I sorted out all the tiles to see how they compared to Scrabble. Q's, Z's, X's in limited numbers vs. many, many a,e,i,o,u vowels.
It comes in a portable yellow banana themed bag, so you can take it on vacation or to parties. |

| My grandchildren had this game and since I love Scrabble, I took to it immediately. I like it because it moves quickly and you do not have to keep score. In fact, I ordered it for myself and play solo. |

| Banagrams is so much fun. The games are quick, two or more can play, and it is also educational. It's a little like Scrabble, only faster and much more portable. I highly recommend it! |

I bought this as a quick game to pull out at a family reunion. It was great because the rules are easy and any number of people can play. The games go quick enough that people can come and go without commiting to an hour long activity. The game is also contagious and makes for fun banter as each person is working on their own crossword.
Another plus: it comes in a small pouch that is easy to carry along anywhere.
The only downside is that the loose pieces can be easy to loose if they scoot off the table. That is the only reason I gave it four stars on durability. Otherwise the 144 letter tiles are very durable and nicely made. |
